Sliced Ham and Potatoes en Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pound slice of ham, two-thirds of an inch thick
  • 12 cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 new potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoon flour

Directions

  1. Have a frying-pan very hot.
  2. Add the ham and brown thoroughly on both sides.
  3. Add the water and let boil for one minute.
  4. Remove the ham.
  5. Stick the cloves into it, and place it in the bottom of a casserole.
  6. Add the parsley and paprika to the water in the pan, and pour; the liquid over the meat.
  7. Cover and bake in a moderate oven for half an hour.
  8. Roll the potatoes (which have been washed and peeled) in the flour, and add to the casserole.
  9. Baste with the liquid.
  10. Cover and cook three-fourths of an hour.
  11. Serve in the casserole.
