Round Steak En Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pound round steak, cut one inch thick
  • 2 tablespoon green pepper, cut fine
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon onion, cut fine
  • 2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Place the meat, which has been wiped with a damp cloth, upon a meat board.
  2. Cut into four pieces.
  3. Pound the flour into the meat on both sides, using a meat pounder or the side of a heavy saucer.
  4. Butter the casserole, add a layer of meat, then onions and green peppers.
  5. Add the carrots.
  6. Add the salt to the water and pour over the meat.
  7. Cover closely.
  8. Place in a moderate oven and allow to cook slowly for two hours.
  9. More water may be needed before the meat is done.
  10. Serve in the casserole.
