
Orange Bread
Ingredients
- 2 quart chopped orange rind
- 6 quart flour, (6 pounds)
- 6 tablespoon baking powder, (2 1/4 ounces)
- 2 teaspoon salt, (1/2 ounce)
- 2 quart sugar, (4 pounds)
- 16 eggs
- 1 quart evaporated milk
- 1 quart orange juice
- 1/2 cup butter, (1/4 pound)
Directions
- Cook orange rind in 2 1/2 cups water and 1 cup sugar (1/2 pound).
- Sift flour, then measure.
- Resift with baking powder, salt and the 2 quarts sugar.
- Beat eggs, add milk, orange juice and rind.
- Combine with dry ingredients.
- Add melted butter.
- Pour into greased bread pans and bake in a moderate oven (350f) until brown, about 50 minutes.
