Orange Bread

Yield: 14 one-pound loaves



  1. Cook orange rind in 2 1/2 cups water and 1 cup sugar (1/2 pound).
  2. Sift flour, then measure.
  3. Resift with baking powder, salt and the 2 quarts sugar.
  4. Beat eggs, add milk, orange juice and rind.
  5. Combine with dry ingredients.
  6. Add melted butter.
  7. Pour into greased bread pans and bake in a moderate oven (350f) until brown, about 50 minutes.
