Chocolate Custard

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 square of chocolate, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 4 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Cook half the sugar, the chocolate and the water until smooth and creamy (two minutes).
  2. Add the milk while the mixture is hot.
  3. Stir until smooth.
  4. Beat the egg, add the rest of che sugar and the salt.
  5. Add to the custard mixture.
  6. Mix well.
  7. Pour into two well-buttered custard moulds.
  8. Place the moulds in a pan surrounded by hot water.
  9. Set in a moderate oven and cook until a knife piercing it will come out clean, (generally thirty minutes.
  10. ) Allow to stand fifteen minutes in a warm place.
  11. Unmould and serve cold.
