Apple Sauce

Ingredients

  • 6 tart apples
  • 1 thin slice of lemon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter
  • a few grains of salt

Directions

  1. Wash, peel, quarter and core the apples.
  2. Add the water, cover the kettle with a lid and cook till apples are soft.
  3. Add other ingredients.
  4. Cook enough longer to dissolve the sugar.
  5. Mash or put through a colander, if desired.
