Apple Dumpling

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoon milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 apples
  • 4 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Mix the flour, baking-powder and salt, cut in the lard with a knife.
  2. Add the liquid, mixing to a soft dough.
  3. Roll on a well floured board to one-fourth of an inch in thickness.
  4. Wash, pare and quarter the apples.
  5. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Cut the dough in five inch squares; place two quarters of apple in the center of a square; moisten the edges of the dough with water and bring the four corners together around the apple.
  7. Place in a tin pan and bake in a moderate oven until the apples are soft, about thirty minutes.
  8. Serve warm with cream.
