
Poppy Seed Torte II
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound crushed graham crackers
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs, (separated)
- 3 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup poppy seed
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 cup sugar
Directions
- Combine for crust graham crackers, melted butter and sugar.
- Line 9x12 inch pan with mixture, keeping 1 cup for the topping.
- Combine the milk, sugar, the egg yolks, cornstarch, poppy seed, and butter.
- Cook until thick.
- Add vanilla.
- Beat egg whites with 1/4 cup sugar until stiff.
- Fold egg whites into the cooked mixture.
- Pour into crust and sprinkle with the remaining cracker crumbs.
- Bake for 1/2 hour or until brown at 350f.
