Poppy Seed Torte

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup poppy seed, soaked in milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Mix crumbs and brown sugar.
  2. Add butter.
  3. Line a pie pan with mixture.
  4. Cook milk, sugar, yolks, cornstarch, poppy seed, and vanilla in double boiler until thick.
  5. Cool.
  6. Pour into crust.
  7. Beat egg whites with sugar until quite stiff.
  8. Spread over filling.
  9. Bake at 350f for 30 minutes.
