Peanut Fudge

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 'C' sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 squares of chocolate
  • 1/2 cup broken peanuts

Directions

  1. Mix the sugar, cream of tartar, chocolate, milk and butter.
  2. Cook over a moderate fire until the fudge forms a soft ball when a little is dropped into cold water.
  3. Remove from the fire, allow to stand without stirring for twenty minutes.
  4. Beat vigorously until creamy.
  5. Add the vanilla and peanuts.
  6. When very thick remove to a buttered plate.
  7. Allow to harden and cut in squares.
