Buttermilk Griddle Cakes

Ingredients

  • 2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoon unmelted shortening

Directions

  1. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  2. Combine eggs and buttermilk: stir into flour mixture: beat until smooth: add shortening.
  3. Bake on hot griddle.
  4. Serve with butter and syrup.
