Blitz Torte - Custard Filling
Ingredients
- 5 1/2 cup flour
- 2 yeast cakes
- 3 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup milk, scalded and cooled
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup shortening, melted and cooled
Directions
- Prepare torte layers.
- To prepare custard, combine sugar, flour and salt.
- Gradually stir in milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly till bubbly.
- Cook and stir two more minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir small amount of hot mixture into egg.
- Immediately return to hot mixture.
- Cook one minute stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Cool well.
- Spread filling over bottom torte layer, and top with almond-sprinkled layer.
