Beef Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 pound salt pork, ground
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/8 cup tomato
  • 1/3 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon fat drippings

Directions

  1. Mix the ground beef and salt pork, add the onion salt, fresh crumbs, egg, salt, pepper and tomato.
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Shape into a loaf which will fit into a small buttered pan.
  4. Add the water and pour fat drippings over the top, bacon fat is good.
  5. Cover the pan, and allow to cook in the oven one-half hour.
  6. Uncover the loaf, basting frequently, and brown it.
  7. This will take fifteen or twenty minutes.
  8. Serve hot.
  9. More water may be added while cooking if necessary.
