Date Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup graham flour
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup white flour
  • 1/3 pound dates, cut fine
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup 'C' sugar
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Mix the flour, baking-powder, sugar, salt and dates ground fine.
  2. Beat the egg with a fork, and add the milk.
  3. Pour slowly into the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix thoroughly and pour into two well-buttered bread pans.
  5. Allow to stand fifteen minutes and bake forty minutes in a moderate oven.
  6. When cold, cut very thin and spread with butter for sandwiches.
  7. Date bread is better for sandwiches when one day old.
