Striped Sandwiches



  1. Remove the crusts from the bread and slice the loaf lengthwise.
  2. Butter the top and bottom slices on one side only, and the others on both sides.
  3. Place a layer of filling on each slice, adding some sliced cucumber with the veal.
  4. Wrap the loaf in greaseproof paper and a damp cloth, place a weight on it, and leave for 2 hours.
  5. Cut the loaf across into thin slices, cut each slice into fingers and cut it diagonally.
  6. If desired, tint some of the butter pink or green.
