Gingerbread II

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/3 cup melted shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup white corn meal

Directions

  1. This recipe makes a good spice cake if the ginger is omitted and in place of it ground spices are added.
  2. For many tastes 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon cloves would be a good combination.
