Gingerbread II
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 1 1/4 teaspoon soda
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/3 cup melted shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup white corn meal
Directions
- This recipe makes a good spice cake if the ginger is omitted and in place of it ground spices are added.
- For many tastes 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon cloves would be a good combination.
