Cheese Straws
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan, cheese
- dash cayenne pepper
Directions
- Mix together flour, cheese, salt, cayenne and the yolk of one egg, then add enough water to make paste sufficiently consistent to roll.
- P]ace it on a board and roll to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut it into narrow strips and roll so each piece will be the size and length of a lead pencil.
- Place them in a baking tin and press each end on the pan.
- Bake to a light brown in a moderate oven.
- These straws are very nice with salad and will keep for several days.
- It is well to heat them before serving.
